Restoring Carbon Fiber Parts
Carbon
fiber parts have a tendency to fade over time, this is due to the
lack of UV screeners. Although some of the higher quality
manufacturers are adding the screeners to the clear gel coating
during the process, they can still fade prematurely. Also;
carbon fiber parts normally have waves and the texture of the
matting in its finish. When we install these parts for our
customers, we always recommend and good wet blocking and clear coat
to protect the finish and remove most (if not all) the waves and
textures. This clear coat has additional UV screeners and
extends the life of your new carbon fiber piece.
We can use the same process for restoring old
faded parts as well. If your carbon fiber piece is badly
damaged, we usually repair the area and paint accordingly,
strategically leaving the rest of your part showing carbon.
Depending on the replacement cost, this can save you money and
extend the life of the part.
